| Purpose : | The CFIA is an active member of the CCWHC along with Environment Canada, Parks Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. In the past two years, the CCWHC and CFIA have worked intensively together particularly on avian influenza surveillance and preparedness, chronic wasting disease, anthrax and strategic planning toward a National Animal Disease Strategy. During this same period, the Board of Directors of the CCWHC has been working toward full implementation of the financial component of the CCWHC Business Plan. The CCWHC is the source of wildlife data for reporting to the World Organization for Animal Health, which in turn facilitates trade in domestic animals and products. |
