Origin & Breeding History: 'CDC Cibo' (experimental designation C05041) originated from the cross between C99005 // Cantate*4 / CDC Maria, made in the summer of 2000 at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In the winter of 2000-2001, F1 plants were grown in a growth chamber. In the summers of 2001 and 2002, F2 and F3 plants were grown in a bulk nursery in Saskatoon, Sakatchewan. The F4 generation was grown in hills and selected for height in 2003. Seed from a bulked F4 hill were entered into an unreplicated yield trial nursery in Saskatchewan based on yield, height and straw strength. In the summer of 2005, C05041 was grown in a replicated yield trial at three sites. From 2006 to 2015, C05041 was evaluated in the Glabrous Canary Seed Cooperative Registration Tests. C05041 was later named 'CDC Cibo'.

Tests & Trials: The tests and trials for 'CDC Cibo' were conducted at the University of Saskatchewan during the summers of 2016 and 2017. There were 4 replicates arranged in an RCB Design. Plots were 3.6 metres long by 1.2 metres wide. Each plot consisted of five rows and 1400 seeds per plot. Measured characteristics were based on 40 measurements per variety per year. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
