The inflorescence has a medium number of umbel branches which have weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration. The florets are large in size with a large spread of the tepals. Emargination on the outer tepals is medium in depth. The middle zone on the inner side of the outer tepals is purple-red in colour and there are no stripes. The inner tepals are elliptic in shape. The middle zone on the inner side of the inner lateral tepals is yellow in colour. There are a moderate number of medium sized stripes on the inner side of the inner lateral tepals. The stamen filaments have no spots and they are reddish-purple in colour. At the start of dehiscence, the anthers are greenish in colour. The pistil has moderate intensity of anthocyanin colouration on the ovary and there are no spots on the stigma.
Origin & Breeding History: 'Stabec' originated from the controlled pollination of the seed parent 86T1684-1 and the pollen parent 87G1069-2. The cross was made in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands in 1990. A single plant was selected for flower colour and form.
Tests & Trials: Trials for 'Stabec' were conducted in a plastic tunnel under local climate conditions in Langley, British Columbia in 2001. The trials consisted of twenty (20) plants per variety grown in 25 cm pots and supported by overhead wires. The plants were spaced at a density of four (4) plants per meter squared. Unless otherwise indicated, the measured characteristics were based on ten (10) measurements.
