Origin & Breeding History: 'Ansublu' was developed by Elke Steffen, an employee of Elsner pac Jungplanzen GbR, Dresden, Germany. It originated from an open pollinated cross conducted in the summer of 2009, in Dresden, between the female parent, an unnamed proprietary breeding line, and an unknown male parent. From the resulting progeny, 'Ansublu' was selected in the summer of 2010, in Dresden, based on criteria for plant growth habit, flower colour, and stem quality and thickness. Asexual reproduction of 'Ansublu' was first conducted by vegetative cuttings, in the summer of 2010, in Dresden, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Ansublu' was conducted in a polyhouse in the spring of 2017, at BioFlora Inc., in St. Thomas ON. It included 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. The plants were grown from rooted cuttings that were transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 18, 2017. The observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or 10 parts of plants of each variety, on June 22, 2017. All colour determinations were made using the Royal Horticultural Society`s (RHS) 2007 Colour Chart.
