Summary: The plants of 'Ansublu021' are taller than the plants of 'Carita Purple' and shorter than the plants of 'Ansublu'. The leaves of 'Ansublu021' are larger than that of 'Carita Purple' and smaller than that of 'Ansublu'. The flower of 'Ansublu021' is wider than that of 'Carita Purple'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Ansublu021' was developed by Elke Steffen in Dresden, Germany. 'Ansublu021' originated from a controlled cross made in the summer of 2015 between two proprietary varieties. The new variety 'Ansublu021' was selected in the summer of 2016 for flower colour along with stem length and thickness. 'Ansublu021' was first propagated asexually by vegetative cuttings in the summer of 2016, in Dresden, Germany.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Ansublu021' was conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2020 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 20 plants each of the candidate and reference varieties. Plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 1 litre pots on April 20, 2020. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety on June 23, 2020. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
