Summary: The leaf blade of 'DAS-10' is dark green whereas the leaf blade of 'Honeycrisp' is medium green. The flower on 'DAS-10' has a free arrangement of petals whereas the flower on 'Honeycrisp' has an overlapping arrangement of petals. The fruit overcolour of 'DAS-10' has a weakly defined flush with strongly defined stripes whereas the fruit overcolour of 'Honeycrisp' is flushed, striped and mottled. The time of harvest and eating maturity of the fruit of 'DAS-10' is early whereas the time of harvest and eating maturity of 'Honeycrisp' is mid to late season.

TREE: medium vigour, ramified, spreading growth habit, fruit bearing on spurs only, begins flowering mid-season
ONE-YEAR-OLD SHOOT: medium thickness, medium brown on sunny side, sparse to medium density of pubescence on distal half, few to medium number of lenticels
PETIOLE: medium extent of anthocyanin colouration from base
LEAF BLADE: outwards attitude in relation to shoot, dark green, serrate type one margin, medium density of pubescence on lower side
FLOWER: dark pink in balloon stage, medium diameter when petals are pressed into horizontal position, free arrangement of petals
FRUIT: large, small height to diameter ratio, obloid shape, absent or weak ribbing, absent or weak crowning at calyx end, medium sized eye, early harvest and eating maturity
FRUIT SKIN: absent or weak bloom, yellow green ground colour, absent or small area of russet around stalk attachment, eye basin and on cheeks, medium number of small to medium sized lenticels
OVERCOLOUR OF SKIN: medium area, medium red, weakly defined flush with strongly defined stripes, narrow stripes
STALK: thin to medium thickness
STALK CAVITY: deep and broad

Origin & Breeding History: 'DAS-10' originated as a whole tree mutation of 'Honeycrisp' and was discovered by the breeders in August 2010 in an orchard in Biglerville, Pennsylvania, USA. 'DAS-10' was propagated by bud grafting in August 2010 and first produced fruit in the 2013 growing season. Selection criteria was based on maturity date and fruit quality.
Tests & Trials: Tests and trials were conducted at Algoma Orchards LLC, Newcastle, Ontario. The trial consisted of 150 trees of both 'DAS-10' and 'Honeycrisp' grafted on G11 and M26 rootstock respectively. Trees of 'DAS-10' were planted in 2016. All trees were planted 1 metre apart within rows spaced 3 metres apart.
