Origin & Breeding History: 'Kizuri' originated from a controlled cross pollination between the female parent variety 'Golden Delicious' and the male parent variety 'NY75413-30'. The cross was conducted in Belgium, in May of 1990. The first selection for 'Kizuri', from the progeny of the cross, was made in 2001. 'Kizuri' was selected for further propagation and testing based on fruit quality, storability and shelf life. Asexual reproduction of this new variety by grafting onto rootstocks was first performed in the winter of 2002 to 2003.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Kizuri' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/3424, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany from 2017 to 2018.
