Origin & Breeding History: R10-45' originated from a traditional cross between Honeycrisp' and Cripps Pink' conducted in Ephrata, Washington, USA in 2002. Resulting seedlings were grafted onto M9 rootstocks, which were planted in 2006 in Ephrata, Washington. The first fruit was observed in October 2007 with R10-45' selected in late 2007 based on fruit texture, flavour and juiciness in Ephrata, Washington, USA. Subsequent propagations were made in 2008 on both M9 and EMLA 26 rootstocks and planted in 2009.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for R10-45' was conducted from 2024 to 2025 at Summerland Research and Development Centre in Summerland, British Columbia. The trial consisted of 5 trees of each variety planted in 2018 on M9.Nic29 rootstock. Trees were planted approximately 0.6 metres apart within a row and the rows were 3 metres apart. Observations and measurements were taken on 5 trees, or 10 parts of trees, for all varieties. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
