Variety used for comparison: 'Summer Pink'
Summary: 'Cobsing' has shorter leaves which have longer lower leaf lobes than 'Summer Pink'. 'Cobsing' has shorter, thicker peduncles than 'Summer Pink'. The flowers of 'Cobsing' are slightly smaller in diameter and a darker pink colour than the flowers of 'Summer Pink'.
Description:
'Cobsing' has an upright-bushy growth habit with dense branching. The leaf has an attenuate base and acute shaped apex. The upper side of the leaf blade is a dark green colour.
The peduncle is medium to thick and flowers are single. The ray florets are straight along the longitudinal axis and are medium in length and width. The ray florets are pink in colour and there is a disc present. 'Cobsing' has a long flowering period which begins mid-season.
Origin & Breeding History: 'Cobsing' originated from a planned breeding program conducted by the breeder in Cobbitty, New South Wales, Australia. The variety was selected for foliage colour, compact growth habit and small pink flowers.
Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Cobsing' were conducted in the summer of 2000 at Oxford Station, Ontario. The trials consisted of ten plants per variety grown in field plots. Plant spacing within the row was approximately 0.40 metres and spacing between rows was 1.0 metre. Measured characteristics were based on ten measurements.
