Origin & Breeding History: 'Argyminyel' originated from an open pollination between two unknown parents carried out in July 2005 in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands. Seed was bulked from several plants and sown in a greenhouse in February 2006. The single plant was selected from the progeny in May 2006 based on flower colour and size, compact plant habit, branching characteristics and continuous abundant flowering.
Tests & Trials: Trials for 'Argyminyel' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2011 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trials included a total of 15 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 29, 2011. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 24, 2011. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
