Variety used for comparison: 'ABRZ0001'
Summary: The petiole of 'ABRZ0004' is medium length while the petiole of 'ABRZ0001' is long. The leaf blade margin incisions of 'ABRZ0004' are shallow while those of 'ABRZ0001' are of medium depth. When newly opened, the inner side of the corolla lobe of 'ABRZ0004' is mainly violet whereas it is more red violet for 'ABRZ0001'.

LEAF BLADE: medium length, medium width, medium green on upper side
LEAF BLADE MARGIN: shallow depth of incisions, absent or very few incisions
FLOWER: small to medium size, weak undulation of margin, few corona segments, absent or very weak degree of overlapping of upper and lower corolla lobes
COROLLA LOBE: inner side is mainly violet (RHS N81A) when newly opened, inner side is mainly purple (RHS N79C) when fully opened, absent or very narrow white ring at base
Origin & Breeding History: 'ABRZ0004' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Har Stemkens, an employee of Syngenta Seeds B.V., in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands. The cross was made in March 2010 between the female parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'L2011-1' and the male parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'M1882-3'. The resultant seed was sown in August 2010. A single seedling was selected in March 2011, in Enkhuizen, based on plant vigour, flowering time, number of flowers and flower colour.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'ABRZ0004' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1068, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2016. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
