Variety used for comparison: 'Titania'
Summary: The plants of 'Stikine' have more than four inflorescences per axil while those of 'Titania' have one and two. The anthocyanin colouration on the vegetative buds of 'Stikine' has a weak intensity whereas that of 'Titania' has medium intensity. The upper side of the leaf blades of 'Stikine' have medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas those of 'Titania' have weak intensity. The inflorescences of 'Stikine' have few florets whereas those of 'Titania' have very few florets. The sepals of 'Stikine' have strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas those of 'Titania' have weak intensity. The ovaries of 'Stikine' have medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas those of 'Titania' have weak intensity. The fruit of 'Stikine' is large while that of 'Titania' is medium size.

LEAF (UPPER SIDE): medium green, medium glossiness, medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
INFLORESCENCE: long, few florets per inflorescence
FLORET: strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration on sepal, medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration on ovary
INFRUCTESCENCE: raceme type, medium range of fruit size
FRUIT: large, black, very weak to weak glossiness
Origin & Breeding History: 'Stikine' originated from a cross conducted in 2004 in Courtenay, British Columbia at McGinnis Berry Corps Limited. The cross was made between the varieties 'Zusha' and 'Titania'. The new variety was selected based on resistance to rust, resistance to mildew, yield, flavour profile, frost tolerance and suitability for hand harvesting.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial of 'Stikine' was conducted in Saanichton, British Columbia in 2015. The trial consisted of six plants per variety, planted in one row with approximately 60 cm between plants. Measured characteristics were based on 8 measurements per variety, with the exception of plant height and width where only 4 measurements were taken.
