Origin & Breeding History: 'KOIBID1346' was bred and developed by the breeder, Koichiro Nishikawa, in Okayama-ken, Japan. It originated from a controlled self-pollinated cross of Bidens triplinervia 'K-SAIKA001' conducted in January 2010. From the resulting progeny, a single seedling was selected in May 2010 based on its vigorous and freely branching growth habit, long flowering period, strong flower peduncles and bright orange flower colour. 'KOIBID1346' was first propagated by asexual reproduction using terminal cuttings in June 2010 in Okayama-ken, Japan.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'KOIBID1346' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2016 at BioFlora Inc., in St. Thomas, Ontario. There were 15 plants each of the candidate and reference varieties. Rooted cuttings were transplanted into 10 cm pots on April 19, 2016. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on May 30, 2016. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticulture Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
