Summary: The flower bud of 'Flamingo Feathers' is dark red while that of 'Pink Elephant' is medium purple red.
Description:
PETIOLE: light green
LEAF BLADE: ovate, cordate base, acuminate apex, mainly dark brown green (lighter than RHS 146A) upper side, dark purple red (lighter than RHS 59B) secondary colour of upper side, purple red discolouration in autumn
PEDUNCLE: medium green

Origin & Breeding History: 'Flamingo Feathers' originated from an open pollinated cross that occurred in the late summer of 2016 between the Bistorta amplexicaulis variety 'Rosea' as the female parent, and pollen from an unknown male parent. 'Flamingo Feathers' was discovered in the summer of 2017 in Lisserbroek, Netherlands, as a chance seedling and selected based on plant height, foliage health, as well as fruiting period, shape and colour. Asexual reproduction of 'Flamingo Feathers' was first conducted by division in the winter of 2017 in Lisserbroek, Netherlands.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Flamingo Feathers' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2021/0682, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2022. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
