The resulting seed was planted in a greenhouse and 'Calypso' was selected in 2006 form 103 sibling plants. 'Calypso' was asexually propagated by softwood cuttings for further testing. Section criteria was for plant vigour, fruit size, fruit firmness and size of picking scar.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Calypso' was conducted by Expert Agriculture Team Ltd., in Chilliwack, British Columbia during the 2017 and 2018 growing seasons. Each variety consisted of 3 replicates with 3 plants per replicate for a total of 9 plants of each variety. Plants were spaced approximately 76 cm apart within rows and 3 metres between rows. Measurements were taken from 9 plants, or 9 parts of plants, of each variety.
