In July 2008, 'Columbia Giant' was selected in Corvallis, Oregon based on its plant growth habit, thornless canes, fruit size, firmness, flavor, yield and quality. The original seedling of the new cultivar was asexually propagated at a nursery and further established in vitro from a cane cutting and microcuttings in Benton County, Oregan.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Columbia Giant' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20201127, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany from 2022 to 2023.
