Summary: The sunny side of the young shoot of ‘HER2009B03' is light green while that of ‘HER2009B01' is medium green. The petiole of HER2009B03' is short whereas that of ‘HER2009B01' is very short.

Description:

SHRUB: medium to broad, medium degree of branching

YOUNG SHOOT: light green on sunny side, medium green on shadow side
MATURE SHOOT: medium green on sunny side

PETIOLE: short, medium green
LEAF BLADE: short to medium length, narrow to medium width, elliptic shape, rounded apex, narrow wedge shaped base, straight margin
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): medium green (RHS 143A)
LEAF BLADE (LOWER SIDE): light green (RHS 144B)

Origin & Breeding History: ‘HER2009B03' originated from an interspecific pollination between two proprietary varieties conducted in the spring of 2009. The resulting seedlings were harvested, and resulting seeds were sown in October 2009. In January 2014, ‘HER2009B03' was selected as a single seedling based on its plant growth habit, growth rate, foliage colour and disease resistance.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘HER2009B03' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20181121, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt, in Hannover, Germany from 2019 to 2020.
