Variety Description
Varieties used for comparison: 'PKMP06' (White Get Mee) and 'CAM 066604'
Summary: The position of the lobes of the calyx relative to the pedicel is at a right angle for 'L10061' whereas the position of the lobes of the calyx of the reference varieties is somewhat spreading. As a proportion of the corolla length, the length of the corolla tube of 'L10061' is short to medium whereas the length of the corolla tube of the reference varieties is medium to long. When viewed in profile, the sides of the corolla tube of 'L10061' are slightly diverging towards the opening whereas the sides of the corolla tube of 'CAM 066604' are parallel.
Description:
PLANT: flat-rounded growth habit, medium density, very short to short, narrow to medium width
RHIZOMES: absent
STEM: sparse pubescence, ribbed in cross-section, light green
PETIOLE: long
LEAF BLADE: short, medium width, very low length to width ratio, obtuse tip, cordate base, widest towards base, weakly concave in cross-section, medium to strong toothing of margin, medium undulation of margin
UPPER SIDE OF LEAF BLADE: light green, weak rugosity, absent or very weak glossiness, medium density of pubescence
CALYX: no petaloid lobes, position of lobes relative to pedicel is at right angle.
COROLLA: natural attitude is moderately outwards, campanulate form, only one whorl, small to medium diameter, very short
COROLLA LOBE: moderately elliptic, short to medium length, very narrow at widest point, medium to strong reflexing, no twisting, in cross-section midpoint is weakly convex, weak central furrow on inner side, acute tip, colour of outer side is not markedly different from colour of outer side of corolla tube, inner side is white (RHS NN155D) flushed with blue violet (RHS N88D) at tip
COROLLA TUBE: as a proportion of corolla length the tube is short to medium length, short, when viewed in profile sides are slightly diverging towards opening, very narrow opening, outer side is white (RHS NN155D), colour of inner side is not markedly different than colour of outer side
STAMEN: yellow pollen
Origin & Breeding History: 'L10061' originated from the self-hybridization of an unnamed proprietary variety designated 'A0909'. The hybridization was conducted in 2010 by Gert Kim Jensen in Marslev, Denmark. 'L10061' was selected in April 2011 for its attractive and distinctive flowers, and compact, upright growth habit.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'L10061' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2012/0607, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Anger, France. The trials were conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2013. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
