Origin & Breeding History: 'Chantal' was bred and developed by the breeder, Alexius Joannes Joseph van der Zwet, in Oude-Wetering, Netherlands. It originated from an open pollinated cross that occurred during the summer of 2007 between two unnamed proprietary seedlings. From the resulting progeny, 'Chantal' was selected in June of 2009 for its plant growth habit, abundant flowering, flower colour, and petal characteristics. 'Chantal' was first propagated asexually in August of 2009, in Oude-Wetering, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Chantal' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1560, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge, United Kingdom, in 2016. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
