Summary: The cotyledon length of 'N90-933' is longer than that of 'Midas' and 'Crésor'. 'N90-933' is taller in plant height than 'Midas' and 'Westar' but is shorter than 'Crésor'. The silique beak of 'N90-933' is longer than that of 'Midas' with a shorter pedicel than that of 'Midas'.

Description:

'N90-933' is an open-pollinated spring canola variety. The cotyledon is medium to wide and the seedling stem anthocyanin colouration is very weak to weak. The largest lower leaf has very weak to weak lobe development and margins with very shallow to medium depth undulating to rounded indentation. Leaf blade glaucosity is weak. The plant is short to medium in height. The flowers are fertile and yellow in colour. The silique is short to medium in length. The silique beak is short to medium in length with a medium to long pedicel. The seed coat colour is black. Plants have fair lodging resistance.

Origin & Breeding History: 'N90-933' was developed at the Agriculture & Agri-Food Research Centre, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The original cross ('DO-195' x 'Westar') x 'Westar' was made in 1984. The pedigree method was used to select plants with early maturity, blackleg resistance, high oil and yield. 'N90-933' was tested as 'ACS-N12'.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'N90-933' were conducted at the Elora, Research Station, Elora, Ontario during 1995 and 1996. Trials were arranged in 2 replicates with 7 row plots.
