Origin & Breeding History: 'PPS01-140 B-line' is a male fertile maintainer line of 'PPS01-140 A-line. 'PPS01-140 B-line' is a doubled haploid line of 98-50-104. Doubled haploid line 98-50-104 was extracted from F1 generation derived from cross 97CGH400 / 97CGH403. 'PPS01-140 B-line' was selected in 1999 on the basis of per se performance, height, vigour, maturity, black leg resistance, oil content, fatty acid profile, and glucosinolates content. Breeder seed production commenced in the 2002 season.
Tests & Trials: Tests and trials were conducted at the Bayer CropScience facility in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2002, 2003. Plots consisted of 3 rows 6 meters in length with 50 cm row spacing. There were 2 replications laid out in a RCB design.
