Origin & Breeding History: 'DK1614-12 NHT' is a male fertile line originating from a cross made in 2008 at the Norddeutsche Pflanzenzucht breeding station in Hohenlieth, Germany between proprietary experimental lines. The F1 to F4 generations were produced using pedigree selection. The selection criteria included vigour, flowering, plant height, maturity, lodging resistance, seed yield, as well as oil, protein, glucosinolate and saturated fatty acid content. F4 single plant progenies were sent to Canada for agronomic and quality evaluations along with testing for blackleg resistance.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trials conducted during the 2015 and 2016 growing seasons at the DL Seeds Sun Valley Research Station in Morden, Manitoba were set up in a RCB Design with 4 replications per variety. Each year, the plots consisted of 6 rows that were 6 metres in length with a spacing of 15 cm between rows and 60 cm between plots. The measured characteristics were based on 30 measurements of the cotyledon, leaf, flower and plant height and 60 measurements of the silique. The means were based on a two year average. Mean differences were significant at the 2% probability level based on LSD values.
