The petal of 'PB5CN292' is longer and wider than that of 'PB1CN231' and it is longer than that of 'PPS01-140 B-Line'. The silique attitude of 'PB5CN292' is horizontal whereas it is erect to semi-erect for 'PB1CN231'. The silique of 'PB5CN292' is longer than that of 'PB1CN231' and it is shorter than that of '5440'. 'PB5CN292' has a longer beak than the reference varieties. At maturity, the plant of 'PB5CN292' is shorter than that of 'PPS01-140 B-Line' and '5440'. The seed coat of 'PB5CN292' is black whereas it is brown for 'PB1CN231'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'PB5CN292' is the male fertile maintainer line of 'PA5CN192'. It is a non-transgenic inbred line which was harvested in 2011 from a double haploid by donor line cross conducted at Bayer CropScience in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 2011. 'PB5CN292' was selected in 2015 on the basis of per se performance, vigour, maturity, blackleg resistance, clubroot tolerance, oil content, fatty acid profile and glucosinolate content.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trials for 'PB5CN292' were conducted during the summers of 2015 and 2016 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They were set up in a RCB Design with 3 replications per variety. Each year, the plots consisted of 3 rows that were 6 metres in length with a spacing of 25 cm between rows and 50 cm between plots. The measured characteristics were based on 30 measurements of the cotyledon, leaf, flower and plant height and 60 measurements of the silique. The means were based on a two year average. Mean differences were significant at the 2% probability level based on LSD values.
