Description:

PLANT: spray type pot carnation, arrangement of totality of flowers is domed, on non-disbudded plants an individual flower is arranged as both one-flowered and clustered
STEM: thin to medium thickness, circular in cross-section, not hollow, laterals without flower buds or flowers are present, one internode between epicalyx and lowest node with flowering laterals, laterals with flower buds or flowers of second order present, total length of seven internodes directly below flower is very short, fifth internode directly below flower is very short to short

LEAF BLADE: obovate shape, short, narrow, recurved along longitudinal axis, upper side is weakly concave in cross-section, green on upper side, very weak to weak waxy layer, no spiny ciliation of margin

EPICALYX: position of outer lobes in relation to calyx are adpressed, acute apex of outer lobes, short apex of outer lobes, acuminate apex of inner lobes, very short to short apex of inner lobes
CALYX: short, cylindrical
CALYX LOBE: flat along longitudinal axis (tip excluded), reddish anthocyanin colouration present at edge, short acute shape, short to medium length
FLOWER BUD: elliptic shape immediately before colour shows, no extrusion of styles
FLOWER: double type, few petals, red colour group, fragrance present
COROLLA: small to medium diameter, short, profile of upper part in lateral view is convex, profile of lower part in lateral view is concave
PETAL: predominant shape is type 3, undulating surface, crenate-dentate margin, shallow to medium depth of incisions of margin, short, narrow, one colour on inner side (claw excluded), dark purple red (RHS 53A), no secondary colour, macule present
OVARY: obovoid shape, whitish base, ribbed surface
STYLE: only two, short to medium length, no shoulder
STIGMA: white with red flush

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEDP11108' originated as a mutation of the variety 'Oscar' discovered and developed by the breeder in February 2007, in Latina, Italy. The new mutation was propagated and assessed in Stuttgart, Germany where further selection was made based flower colour. They were further evaluated from January to April of 2008 and assessed for flowering time and growth habit. 'KLEDP11108' was selected as a single plant for commercialization in February 2009.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEDP11108' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2012/1408, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Naktuinbouw Variety Center in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2013, 2014. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
