Summary: The flower of 'KLEDP15179' is small whereas the flower of 'KLEDP11114' is small to medium size. The petal of 'KLEDP15179' is dark pink red whereas the petal of 'KLEDP11114' is red.

Description:

PLANT: pot plant type, pink colour group, short, medium density, flowers positioned at same level or slightly above foliage

STEM: very short to short internode, thin to medium internode thickness, slightly angular in cross-section, not hollow

LEAF BLADE: obovate, short to medium length, medium width, weakly recurved along longitudinal axis, flat or very weakly concave in cross-section, dark green upper side, weak degree of glaucosity, no spiny ciliation of margin

FLOWER BUD: oblong to obovate, no extrusion of styles
EPICALYX (OUTER LOBES): adpressed in relation to calyx, acute apex, short tip
EPICALYX (INNER LOBES): acute apex, short tip
CALYX: short, narrow, cylindrical
CALYX LOBE: acute apex, short to medium length, straight along longitudinal axis, weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration along margin of lobe
FLOWER: small diameter, double type, very few to few petals
COROLLA: very short to short, profile of upper part is concave in lateral view, profile of lower part is flat convex in lateral view
PETAL: predominantly type 1 shape, absent or weak undulation, short, narrow, dark pink red (RHS 45D)
PETAL MARGIN: crenate to dentate incisions, medium number of incisions, shallow incisions
OVARY: obovate to rhombic, whitish base, slightly ribbed surface
STYLE: only two, short, no shoulder
STIGMA: white with red flush

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEDP15179' originated as a mutation discovered and developed by the breeder, Lena Gutbrodt. The new variety 'KLEDP15179' was discovered in March 2010 in Stuttgart, Germany as a mutation of the parent variety 'Oscar Red' (DCP-2010-1006). 'KLEDP15179' was selected for commercialization in January 2015 in Germany based on its flower colour and stability of flower colour.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEDP15179' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2016/1115, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted in 2017 by the Naktuinbouw - Variety Center, in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, using the reference number ANJ3217. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
