Summary: 'Cream Reagan Twin' differs from 'Cream Reagan' in the colour of the inner side of the ray floret. 'Cream Reagan Twin' is RHS 4D to 5D, which is a lighter shade of yellow than RHS 4C, the colour of 'Cream Reagan'. The terminal flower bud of 'Cream Reagan Twin' has a long peduncle, whereas 'Lemon Reagan' has a long to very long peduncle.
Description:
'Cream Reagan Twin' is a spray type chrysanthemum variety which has medium plant height and stem internodes which are short to medium in length. The stems are medium in diameter and yellow green in colour. Stem anthocyanin is present mainly along the ribs. The lateral shoots of 'Cream Reagan Twin' have a weak to medium attachment to the stem and the angle between the lateral and the stem is medium. The peduncle is thick and long and the stipules are medium in size. 'Cream Reagan Twin' has medium to long leaves which are medium in width and thickness, fleshy in texture, with medium to coarse serration. The lower leaf lobe is long with a round base of the sinus and a claw is present. The margins of the sinus are converging. The leaf base is cordate in shape and the apex is mucronate.
'Cream Reagan Twin' has a corymbiform type of inflorescence, with a high to very high number of flower heads. The flower heads are semi-doubles with a small to medium diameter and a low to medium number of rows of ray florets. There are five or fewer rows of involucral bracts and none among the florets. The ray florets reflex weakly along the longitudinal axis and the corolla tube of the ray floret is very short. In cross section the corolla tube is concave, with no keel. The outer ray florets are short to medium in length and medium to broad in width. The ray florets are yellow in the inner and outer sides and there are a medium number. The disc is medium to large in diameter. Before anther dehiscence the disc is green and at dehiscence it is yellow. The disc florets are clearly visible at all stages of flower head development and are tubular in shape and medium in length. The receptacle has a medium diameter and is a raised dome in shape.
Origin & Breeding History: The mutation breeding of 'Cream Reagan Twin' was conducted at Chrysanthemum Breeders Association N.V., The Netherlands. The variety was discovered as a whole plant mutation of the parent variety 96.4020 in a greenhouse in 1998. The selection was asexually propagated by cuttings. A clonal testing program was conducted in order to evaluate uniformity, stability and distinctness and commercial value.
