Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Yoauburn' (Auburn Orange)

Summary: The plants of ‘CIDZ0095' are shorter than those of ‘Yoauburn'. The leaf of ‘CIDZ0095' is wider than that of ‘Yoauburn'. The margins of the lowest lateral sinus of the leaf of ‘CIDZ0095' are overlapping while those of ‘Yoauburn' are parallel. The predominant leaf base shape of ‘CIDZ0095' is truncate while that of ‘Yoauburn' is obtuse. The glossiness on the upper side of the leaf of ‘CIDZ0095' is strong whereas it is absent or weak for ‘Yoauburn'. The secondary colour of the inner side of the ray floret of ‘CIDZ0095' is light orange while that of ‘Yoauburn' is a medium brown purple to red pink overlay. The disc diameter of ‘CIDZ0095' is smaller than that of ‘Yoauburn'.

FLOWER BUD (OUTER SIDE): light yellow (RHS 10C) with light orange (RHS 26D) tones just before opening
FLOWER HEAD: semi-double daisy type, ranging between few and few to medium number of rows of ray florets
RAY FLORET: ligulate type only, attitude of basal part is weakly ascending, two keels on upper surface, ranging between short and short to medium length corolla tube, moderately to weakly concave in cross-section at widest point; ranging between moderately involute, flat and moderately revolute rolling of margin at basal and distal quarter; straight to reflexing along longitudinal axis with weak curvature along the distal quarter, medium length to width ratio, dentate or mamillate shaped tip
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): two colours, mainly medium yellow (RHS 5C), diffuse stripes of light orange (RHS 26D) secondary colour at distal three quarters and marginal zone, colour is similar compared to outer side
DISC: small to medium diameter relative to head diameter, slightly domed in cross-section, yellowish green with no dark spot at centre before anther dehiscence, yellow orange at anther dehiscence

Origin & Breeding History: ‘CIDZ0095' was discovered as a mutation from the proprietary parent seedling designated ‘CIDZ0066' (Grandview Light Pink) in Gilroy, California, USA on June 3, 2015. It was selected based on its plant structure, flower form and colour, as well as its flowering response time.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for ‘CIDZ0095' was conducted in a greenhouse in St. Catharine's, Ontario in the summer of 2025. Fifty unrooted cuttings were planted into 15 cm pots, with 5 cuttings per pot, 10 pots per variety on June 30, 2025. Plants were pinched on July 14, 2025 prior to short day treatment. Plants were spaced 30 cm apart on July 21, 2025. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on September 10, 2025. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart.
