Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Yoauburn' (Auburn Orange)

Summary: The leaf of ‘CIDZ0110' is wider than that of ‘Yoauburn'. The inner side of the ray floret of ‘CIDZ0110' is mainly orange brown with flushed and diffuse stripes of medium yellow secondary colour throughout while that of ‘Yoauburn' is mainly light yellow brown to medium yellow with a medium brown purple to red pink overlay throughout and darkest at the tip. The outer side of the ray floret of ‘CIDZ0110' is medium yellow with lighter medium yellow at the base while that of ‘Yoauburn' is light yellow, brown red and medium orange pink.

FLOWER BUD (OUTER SIDE): dark yellow orange (RHS 22A) to dark yellow (RHS 13A) just before opening
FLOWER HEAD: semi-double daisy type, very few rows of ray florets
RAY FLORET: ligulate type only, attitude of basal part is moderately ascending, two keels on upper surface, ranges between short and short to medium length corolla tube, predominantly flat with some ranging between weakly concave and weakly convex in cross-section at widest point, weakly involute rolling of margin at basal quarter, weakly revolute rolling of margin at middle half, straight along longitudinal axis with weak curvature along the distal quarter, medium to high length to width ratio, mamillate shaped tip
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): two colours, mainly orange brown (RHS 170C, 168C), flushed and diffuse stripes of medium yellow (RHS 7C) secondary colour throughout, colour is markedly different compared to outer side
RAY FLORET (OUTER SIDE): medium yellow (RHS 8B) with lighter medium yellow (RHS 5C) at the base
DISC: small diameter relative to head diameter, strongly domed in cross-section, yellowish green with no dark spot at centre before anther dehiscence

Origin & Breeding History: 'CIDZ0110' originated from a controlled cross conducted between two proprietary breeding lines, the female parent designated ‘B7017' and the male parent designated ‘B8680', conducted in Gilroy, California, USA in August 2013. The resulting seed was sown in September 2014. A single unique seedling was selected in January 2015 based on its flower type, colour and size, as well as its flowering response time.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for ‘CIDZ0110' was conducted in a greenhouse in St. Catharine's, Ontario in the summer of 2025. Fifty unrooted cuttings were planted into 15 cm pots, with 5 cuttings per pot, 10 pots per variety on June 30, 2025. Plants were pinched on July 14, 2025 prior to short day treatment. Plants were spaced 30 cm apart on July 21, 2025. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on September 10, 2025. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart.
