Variety used for comparison: 'CIDZ0063' (Outrageous Red)

Summary: The ray floret of ‘CIDZ0111' is narrower than that of ‘CIDZ0063'. The outer side of the ray floret of ‘CIDZ0111' is medium orange pink with brown red while that of ‘CIDZ0063' is medium brown with brown red.

LEAF: medium length to width ratio, short terminal lobe relative to leaf length, obtuse base, absent or weak glossiness of upper side, medium green upper side, few to medium number of medium depth indentations of margin
LOWEST LATERAL SINUS: medium depth, margins either parallel, converging or touching

FLOWER BUD (OUTER SIDE): dark brown purple (RHS 184A) just before opening
FLOWER HEAD: semi-double daisy type, few rows of ray florets
RAY FLORET: predominantly ligulate with some spatulate type, attitude of basal part is moderately ascending, two keels on upper surface, short to medium length corolla tube, moderately concave in cross-section at widest point, moderately involute rolling of margin at basal quarter, reflexing along longitudinal axis with medium strength curvature along the distal half, high length to width ratio, pointed and mamillate shaped tip
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): one colour, dark purple red (RHS 46A), colour is markedly different compared to outer side
RAY FLORET (OUTER SIDE): medium orange pink (closest to RHS 179C) with brown red (RHS 180C)
DISC: small to medium diameter relative to head diameter, slightly domed in cross-section, yellowish green with no dark spot at centre before anther dehiscence, yellow orange at anther dehiscence

Origin & Breeding History: 'CIDZ0111' originated from a controlled cross conducted between the female parent variety ‘CIDZ0063' and the male parent, a proprietary breeding lines designated ‘B8831', conducted in Gilroy, California, USA in August 2013. The resulting seed was sown in September 2014. A single unique seedling was selected in January 2015 based on its flower type and colour, as well as its flowering response time.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for ‘CIDZ0111' was conducted in a greenhouse in St. Catharine's, Ontario in the summer of 2025. Fifty unrooted cuttings were planted into 15 cm pots, with 5 cuttings per pot, 10 pots per variety on June 30, 2025. Plants were pinched on July 14, 2025 prior to short day treatment. Plants were spaced 30 cm apart on July 21, 2025. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on September 10, 2025. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart.
