Variety Description

Varieties used for comparison: 'Milton Pink Bicolor' and 'CIDZ0099' (La Belle Bronze Bicolor)

Summary: The leaf of ‘CIDZ0113' is larger than that of both reference varieties. The flower head of ‘CIDZ0113' is shorter than that of ‘Milton Pink Bicolor'. The ray floret of ‘CIDZ0113' is narrower than that of ‘Milton Pink Bicolor'. The main colour of the inner side of the ray floret of ‘CIDZ0113' is dark purple fading to lighter dark purple and medium violet while that of ‘Milton Pink Bicolor' is medium purple and that of ‘CIDZ0099' is medium yellow. The secondary colour of the inner side of the ray floret of ‘CIDZ0113' is white while that of ‘CIDZ0099' is medium brown purple to brown red.

LOWEST LATERAL SINUS: shallow, margins either diverging or parallel

FLOWER BUD (OUTER SIDE): light yellow (RHS 3D) tip with medium brown purple (RHS 186B) to dark blue pink (RHS186C) base just before opening
FLOWER HEAD: semi-double daisy type, few rows of ray florets
RAY FLORET: ligulate type only, attitude of basal part is weakly ascending, two keels on upper surface, short corolla tube, flat to weakly convex in cross-section at widest point, flat to moderately revolute rolling of margin at distal half, reflexing with some twisted along longitudinal axis with medium to strong curvature along the distal half, medium to high length to width ratio, emarginate or dentate shaped tip
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): two colours, mainly dark purple (RHS 61A) fading to lighter dark purple (RHS 72A) and medium violet (RHS 72B), solid or nearly solid white (RHS NN155B) secondary colour at distal quarter to distal half, colour is similar compared to outer side
DISC: small diameter relative to head diameter, slightly domed in cross-section, yellowish green with no dark spot at centre before anther dehiscence, yellow orange at anther dehiscence

Origin & Breeding History: 'CIDZ0113' originated from a controlled cross conducted between two proprietary breeding lines, the female parent variety designated ‘B7135' and the male parent designated ‘B7210', conducted in Gilroy, California, USA in May 2011. The resulting seed was sown in May 2013. A single unique seedling was selected in September 2013 based on its flower type and colour, as well as its flowering response time.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for ‘CIDZ0113' was conducted in a greenhouse in St. Catharine's, Ontario in the summer of 2025. Fifty unrooted cuttings were planted into 15 cm pots, with 5 cuttings per pot, 10 pots per variety on June 30, 2025. Plants were pinched on July 14, 2025 prior to short day treatment. Plants were spaced 30 cm apart on July 21, 2025. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on September 10, 2025. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart.
