Origin & Breeding History: 'Sunsenebabu' is the result of a cross which occurred in January 1996 between the female parent, 'Extra Blue' and the male parent Senecio heritieri at Hokuto-shi, Yamanashi-ken, Japan. The seedlings obtained from the cross were grown in pots in glasshouses and evaluated in July 1996. One seedling was selected in view of its growth habit, flower colour, and flowering time in December 1996. That seedling was propagated by cutting and grown in pots and then observed in trial from July 1999.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, CPVO reference number 2004/0798, application number SEN 6, grant number 16135, purchased from the CPVO, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany, in 2005. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart.
