Variety used for comparison: ‘Qwerty'

Summary: The number of female flowers per node of ‘Quantario' are predominantly two or three while that of ‘Qwerty' is predominantly two. The leaves of ‘Quantario' are short and dark green while those of ‘Qwerty' are very short to short and medium to dark green.

Description:

PLANT: produces Beth Alpha type fruit, gynoecious sex expression, predominantly two or three female flowers per node, parthenocarpy present, indeterminate growth type, first 15 internodes are short

COTYLEDON: no bitterness

LEAF BLADE: horizontal attitude, short, small to medium ratio of terminal lobe length in relation to blade length, shape of apex of terminal lobe is right-angled, dark intensity of green on upper side, weak to medium degree of blistering, absent or weak undulation of margin, very weak to weak dentation of margin

TIME OF DEVELOPMENT OF FEMALE FLOWERS (WHEN 80% OF PLANTS HAVE AT LEAST ONE FEMALE FLOWER): early to mid season
OVARY VESTITURE: white

PEDUNCLE: short
FRUIT: very short to short, small diameter, very small to small length to diameter ratio, large core diameter in relation to diameter of fruit, round shape in transverse section, shape of stem end is obtuse, shape of calyx end is rounded, absent or weak ribs, no sutures, very weak degree of creasing, no warts, absent or very short stripes, no dots
FRUIT VESTITURE: prickles only type, sparse to medium density of prickles, white

DISEASE REACTIONS: no resistance to Corynespora blight and Target leaf spot (Corynespora cassiicola) (Cca); moderate resistance to Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV); resistance to Cladosporium cucumerinum (Ccu), Cucumber Vein Yellowing Virus (CVYV) present; highly resistant to powdery mildew (Podosphaera xanthii) (Px)

Origin & Breeding History: 'Quantario' (breeders reference 19-SH758 RZ) originated from a cross made in the spring of 2018, in the Netherlands. The resulting hybrid was selected for its disease resistance, fruit type, and fruit colour.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Quantario' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number KMK1527, purchased from Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2023.
