Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Curalimei'

Summary: Including the inflorescence, the plants of 'Curaliroti' are short to medium in height while those of 'Curalimei' are short. The plants of 'Curaliroti' have few to a medium number of light blue pink upper bracts while those of 'Curalimei' have few dark blue pink upper bracts.

Description:

PLANT: short to medium height including inflorescence

LEAF: short to medium length, narrow
LEAF BLADE: narrow elliptic to medium elliptic shape, upper side dark green (RHS 137A), no anthocyanin colouration, medium to wide main vein, strong to very strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration along main vein, grey green to medium green on lower side

PEDUNCLE: medium length
SPIKE: short, broad
LOWER BRACTS: few to medium number, medium brown green (lighter than RHS 138A), weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration at upper side at apex
UPPER BRACTS: few to medium number, light blue pink (RHS 65C), weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
FLOWER: short to medium length, medium width
CALYX: light blue
COROLLA (UPPER LOBE): broad obovate, dark violet (RHS 86A), two stripes
COROLLA LOBES: other lobes white with very light violet flush

Origin & Breeding History: 'Curaliroti' originated from a controlled cross between two proprietary seedlings, the female parent designated 20102602-023 and the male parent designated 20112725-024 in Naaldwijk, Netherlands in June 2014. From the resulting progeny, the new variety was selected in August 2015 based on bract colour and appearance, number of shoots and leaf quality. 'Curaliroti' was first propagated by tissue culture in June 2016 in Naaldwijk, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Curaliroti' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, reference number 2018/3228, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2020. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
