Summary: Variegation is present on the branches of Havfrego' while there is no variegation on the branches of Goldcrest'.
Description:
TRUNK: ramification present, light to medium brown, medium to dark brown at base
BRANCH: light green or white when variegated, variegation scattered at end of branch
SCALES: variegation positioned on whole blade when present
SCALE BLADE: dark green (RHS 143B) or light yellow brown (RHS 158D) when variegated, lanceolate, medium degree of glossiness on upper side, straight in longitudinal section, flat in cross section, acute apex
Origin & Breeding History: Havfrego' originated from a cross between the variety Gold Crest', as the female parent, and an unnamed proprietary seedling, as the male parent, conducted in Haps, the Netherlands in 2008. Havfrego' was selected as a unique single seedling in 2011 based on leaf variegation. Asexual reproduction by vegetative root cuttings was first conducted in 2015.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Havfrego' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number CPS6, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, the Netherlands. The trial was conducted at the Naktuinbouw Variety Testing Department in Roelofarendsveen, the Netherlands, in 2017. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
