Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Daenogtyve'

Summary: The main colour of the inner side of the ray floret is red purple to purple for 'Datredive' whereas the main colour is red purple for 'Daenogtyve'. The secondary colour of the inner side of the ray floret of 'Datredive' is distributed on the basal quarter of the ray floret as a solid or near solid colour whereas the secondary colour of 'Daenogtyve' is distributed throughout the ray floret as diffuse stripes.

LEAFLET: elliptic shape, acute base, medium to many incisions of medium depth along margin (excluding lobes)

PEDUNCLE: medium to long, green tinged with brownish red or purple
FLOWER HEAD: positioned high above foliage, upright to semi-upright attitude, double type, no collar segments, medium diameter, medium height, medium to dense ray florets
RAY FLORET: medium to long, broad, low to medium length to width ratio, in cross-section weakly concave at mid-point, in cross-section flat at three quarter point from base, weakly revolute rolling of margin along distal quarter, longitudinal axis is very weakly incurved along distal three quarters, absent or very weak twisting, mamillate shaped apex
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): ribbed, two colours, main colour is red purple to purple (between RHS N74A and N78A), secondary colour is white (RHS NN155C) distributed in a solid or nearly solid pattern on basal quarter
RAY FLORET (OUTER SIDE): colour is markedly different when compared to colour of inner side, white (RHS N155C tinged with pink)

Origin & Breeding History: 'Datredive' originated from a hybridization between the variety 'Daenogtyve' and a proprietary seedling designated '5187N'. The hybridization was conducted as part of a breeding program, in June of 2010, in the research greenhouse of the breeder, Rune Harboe Nielsen, located in Stige, Denmark. The objectives of the breeding program were to develop new Dahlia varieties with a uniform and compact plant form and colourful, attractive flowers. 'Datredive' was selected in June of 2013 for its compact plant growth habit, and red-purple and white bi-coloured flowers.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Datredive' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/1704, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted in 2014 by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany, in Cambridge, United Kingdom. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
