Origin & Breeding History: 'G14402DAHL' was bred and developed by the breeders, Irene E. Palmer and Michael S. Uchneat formerly of GardenGenetics LLC, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, USA. 'G14402DAHL' originated from a cross conducted in July 2013 between the proprietary breeding line designated '3180-5M-2M-2' as the female parent and '3198-1-1' as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, 'G14402DAHL' was selected on March 14, 2014 for its vigorous plant growth, a mounded plant growth habit, semi-double flower type, large crimson coloured flowers, continuous flowering, and dark green to bronze purple foliage. 'G4402DAHL' was first propagated asexually using vegetative tip cuttings on October 13, 2014 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, USA.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial of 'G14402DAHL' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2018 at BioFlora Inc., in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 11, 2018. Unless otherwise indicated, the observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety on June 7, 2018. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
