Summary: The plants of 'RMEVO28301' are wider with longer shoots than those of 'USEVO1201'. The plants of 'RMEVO28301' have very dense branching whereas those of 'USEVO1201' have dense branching. The leaf blades of 'RMEVO28301' are larger than those of 'USEVO1201'. The corolla of 'RMEVO28301' has a larger diameter than that of 'USEVO1201'. The flowering stems of 'RMEVO28301' have less flowers per stem than the flowering stems of 'USEVO1201'.

LEAF BLADE: obovate to oblong, obtuse apex, upper side is medium green, lower side is medium green to grey green

Origin & Breeding History: 'RMEVO28301' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder in Higashiomi, Shiga, Japan on July 17, 2015. The cross was made between the female parent, a proprietary seedling designated '07E12-01' and the male parent, an unnamed variety in cultivation in Sri Lanka. The new variety was selected as a single plant from the cross on August 22, 2016 for its growth habit, blooming period length and summer performance. Asexual reproduction of 'RMEVO28301' was first conducted by cuttings on August 23, 2016 in Higashiomi, Shiga, Japan.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'RMEVO28301' was conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2022 at Bioflora Inc., in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 9, 2022. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or parts of 10 plants of each variety on June 30, 2022. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
