Description:

PLANT: begins flowering early season, semi-erect to horizontal attitude of shoots
STEM: medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration

LEAF BLADE: very short to short, narrow to medium width, no variegation, medium to dark green on upper side, very weak blistering, absent or very shallow incisions of margin

FLOWER BUD: short to medium length, narrow
FLOWER: single type, narrow
HYPANTHIUM: ventricose shape, red (RHS 45C)
SEPAL: attitude is semi-erect to horizontal, straight apex, inner side is red (RHS 46C), outer side is red (RHS 47B)
PETAL: inner side is violet (RHS 78A), outer side is violet (RHS N80A)
OVARY: weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
STYLE: pink
FILAMENT: pink

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEFU14838' was bred and developed by the breeder, Andrea Dohm, in Stuttgart, Germany. It originated from a controlled cross conducted in Stuttgart, Germany in October 2011 between '2010.5', as the female parent, and '2010.11', as the male parent. The resulting seedlings were selected in September 2012 based on upright growth habit, compact plant growth, flower abundance and flower colour. The selected seedlings were then evaluated in greenhouse trials from December to April in 2013 and 2014. A single seedling was selected for commercialization and named 'KLEFU14838' in January 2015, in Stuttgart, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEFU14838' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1634, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted in 2016 by the Bundessortenamt, in Hannover, Germany. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
