Origin & Breeding History: 'Sheegene 2' originated from a controlled hybridization between the variety 'Red Globe', as the female parent, and the variety 'Princess', as the male parent. In the late spring of 2000, the original cross was conducted in Fowler, California, USA. The initial seedling of 'Sheegene 2' was selected based on its high fertility, production of seedless grapes, bunch size and muscat flavour. The variety was asexually propagated in the dormant season of 2003, grafted onto Harmony grape rootstock, and planted in a Vitis vinifera variety block near Fowler, California.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Sheegene 2' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20094857, purchased from the Oficina Española de Variedades Vegetales. The trials were conducted at the Centro de Ensayos de Evaluación de Variedades de Murcia, in Spain from 2010 to 2013.
