The initial seedling of 'Sheegene 26' was selected based on the production of seedless grapes, berry shape, berry skin colour and foxy flavour. The variety was asexually propagated in the dormant season of 2003 and grafted onto a grape rootstock. The new variety was developed in Murcia, Spain in 2005.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Sheegene 26' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, CPVO reference number SFS/BC7501789/20110004839, application number 2010/2597, purchased from the CPVO, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Consiglio Per La Ricerca E La Sperimentazione in Agricoltura at the Centro Di Recerca Per La Viticoltura in Conegliano, Italy from 2011 to 2014.
