Summary: The petiole of ‘GRUHEL02' is medium to long whereas that of both reference varieties is a short to medium length. The petiole of ‘GRUHEL02' is light to medium green whereas that of ‘COSEH 210' is dark green. The bract of ‘GRUHEL02' is medium green whereas that of ‘Hgc Jacob' is light green. The nectary of ‘GRUHEL02' is medium to dark green whereas that of both reference varieties is light green. The anther of ‘GRUHEL02' is light yellow green whereas that of ‘Hgc Jacob' is yellow.
Description:
PLANT: short to medium height, small to medium diameter
LEAF: medium width, medium number of leaflets
LEAFLET: elliptic, short to medium length, narrow to medium width, very weak to weak intensity of serrate margin, dark green (RHS 137A) on upper side, weak glossiness of upper side, medium degree of undulation of margin, weakly concave in cross section
PETIOLULE: light to medium intensity of green colour, weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
PETIOLE: medium to long, light to medium intensity of green colour, strong anthocyanin colouration
PEDUNCLE: short to medium length, narrow, light green colour, medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration

Origin & Breeding History: ‘GRUHEL02' originated from a cross between two unnamed proprietary seedlings of Helleborus niger conducted in Boskoop, Netherlands in December of 2000. The new variety ‘GRUHEL02' was selected between November and December of 2013 based on growth habit, flower size, glossiness of foliage and heat tolerance.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘GRUHEL02' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, reference number 2017/3134, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, from 2018 to 2019. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
