It originated from a cross made in April 2001, between 'Amber Waves' as the female parent and the variety 'Huntsman' as the male parent. The new variety was selected in August 2002, based on foliage colour in all seasons, flower colour, and excellent plant vigour.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'TNHEU042' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2005, in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants of each variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings, transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 29, 2005. Foliage height was recorded on July 15, 2005. All other observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 29, 2005. All colour measurements were made using the 2001 RHS Colour Chart.
