The leaf margins are ciliate with shallow, crenate incisions. There is strong undulation of the leaf margins. Lobing is moderate. Pubescence on the upper side of the leaf blade is absent or very sparse and on the lower side it is sparse. The main colour on the upper side of the leaf is dark brown. However, there is grey secondary colour between the veins on the upper side of the leaf blade. The lower side of the leaf is red purple. The petiole of 'TNHEU044' is dark brown in colour with sparse, short pubescence.

Origin & Breeding History: The variety 'TNHEU044' originated from an open pollinated cross that took place in May 2000 in a field in Canby, Oregon, between interspecific Heuchera hybrids. Given that the new variety has silver and red in its leaves, it is assumed that it has Heuchera americana in its parentage. The new variety was selected in August 2002, based on leaf colour, winter leaf colour, and excellent plant vigour.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'TNHEU044' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2005, in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants of each variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings, transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 29, 2005. Foliage height was recorded on July 15, 2005. All other observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 29, 2005. All colour measurements were made using the 2001 RHS Colour Chart.
