Summary: The plants of 'Glorie Dwarf' are dense whereas the plants of 'Glorie Gem' are of medium density. The leaf blades of 'Glorie Dwarf' are very short and very narrow to narrow whereas the leaf blades of 'Glorie Gem' are short and of medium width.

LEAF BLADE: very short, very narrow to narrow, low to medium length to width ratio, elliptic, obtuse apex, acute base, no variegation, reflexing midrib curvature, convex in cross-section
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): brown green (closest to RHS 147A but slightly lighter), strong degree of glossiness

Origin & Breeding History: 'Glorie Dwarf' originated as a naturally occurring branch mutation of the variety 'Glorie Gem' discovered and developed by the breeders Mr. Reinhold D. H. Barth and Mr. Hinrikus Barth. The new variety was discovered at the breeders nursery in Bad Zwischenahn, Germany, in August of 2002 and was selected based on its growth habit, growth speed and leaf size. Asexual reproduction of 'Glorie Dwarf' was first conducted by softwood stem cuttings in June 2003 at the nursery in Bad Zwischenahn, Germany.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Glorie Dwarf' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2010/2854, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted at the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2012. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
