Description:
PLANT: non-climbing type, semi upright growth habit, short (natural height including inflorescence)
STEM: no fasciation, purplish, absent or few lenticels in autumn, white lenticels
LEAF BLADE: medium length, very narrow to narrow, no lobing, elliptic shape, medium length tip, obtuse base, shallow depth of incisions of margin, no variegation, dark green on upper side, no secondary colour, moderate degree of glossiness of upper side, weak degree of blistering
FLOWERING: begins mid to late season
INFLORESCENCE: medium height, small to medium diameter, conical shape, moderately conspicuous fertile flowers, red at senescence
STERILE FLOWER: small diameter of calyx, single type, weak degree of overlapping of sepals, incisions of margin absent on all sepals
SEPAL OF STERILE FLOWER (INNER SIDE): white (RHS NN155A), no secondary colour
PETAL OF FERTILE FLOWER: white on inner side
Origin & Breeding History: 'Kolmavesu' was bred and developed by the breeder, Mr. Peter R. Kolster, at Kolster Holding B.V., in Boskoop, Netherlands. It originated from an open pollinated cross that occurred in July 2006, in Boskoop between the female parent variety 'DVPPinky' and an unknown male parent variety. 'Kolmavesu' was selected in August, 2012, for its compact plant growth habit and sturdy flowering stems and flowers.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Kolmavesu' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/2278, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the testing station of the Groupe d'Étude et de Contrôle des Variétés et des Semences in Brion, France, from February 15, 2015 to December 15, 2016. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
