Variety Description

Description:

PLANT: non-climbing type, semi upright growth habit, short to medium height

STEM: no fasciation, brownish, medium number of lenticels in autumn, white lenticels

LEAF BLADE: medium to long, narrow, no lobing, ovate, medium length tip, obtuse base, shallow to medium depth incisions, no variegation, dark green, no secondary colour, absent or weak glossiness of upper side, weak blistering

INFLORESCENCE: conical, short to medium height, small to medium diameter, inconspicuous or slightly conspicuous fertile flowers, flowers early to mid-season
CALYX: very small to small diameter
STERILE FLOWER: single type
SEPALS OF STERILE FLOWER: weak degree of overlapping, incisions along margin on some sepals, when fully opened white (RHS 155A, 155B), no secondary colour
PETALS OF FERTILE FLOWER: white

Origin & Breeding History: 'HYLV02' originated from an open pollinated cross that occurred in Reeuwijk, The Netherlands in the summer of 2012. The cross was made between the female parent 'Phantom' and an unknown male parent. 'HYLV02' was selected in August 2014 and developed by the breeder Nick van Rosmalen in Reeuwijk, The Netherlands based on growth habit, branching, stem strength and flowering characteristics. 'HYLV02' was first asexually propagated by softwood cuttings in August 2016 in Reeuwijk, The Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'HYLV02' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20181957, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by Groupe d'Étude et de Contrôle des Variétés et des Semences in Brion, France between February 15, 2019 and December 15, 2020. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
