Origin & Breeding History: 'Boddblorg' was developed from an mpatiens walleriana Hook. f. breeding program conducted at John Bodger & Sons Company greenhouses in Lompoc, California, U.S.A. The goal for this breeding program was to produce new, compact Impatiens cultivars with fully double flowers, excellent branching, and attractive flower & foliage colours. 'Boddblorg' originated from a cross made in 1998 between the female parent, a proprietary selection designated '8IM16-10' and the male parent, another proprietary selection designated '8IM751-2'. These parents can be traced back to a Carousel Salmon Shades selection and Tempo breeding lines, respectively.
Tests & Trials: The test and trial for 'Boddblorg' was conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2005 at Variety Rights Management in Oxford Station, Ontario. The trial included 15 plants of each variety. The plants were grown in 10 cm pots spaced 12.5 cm apart. All colour characteristics were determined using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart and measured characteristics were based on ten plant measurements.
