Variety used for comparison: 'Fisnics White' (Sonic White 2003)

Summary: 'KIE011037' has a shallower incision on the lower petal than 'Fisnics White'. 'KIE011037' has a wider upper petal width than 'Fisnics White'. 'KIE011037' has a slightly different flower colour than 'Fisnics White'.

Description:

'KIE011037' is a New Guinea Impatiens variety with no anthocyanin colouration on the upper third of the shoot. The leaf has a small length to width ratio and is not variegated. The main colour of the upper side of the leaf blade is medium green. There is no anthocyanin on the upper side of the leaf. The lower side of the leaf is green in colour between the veins. The lower side of the leaf blade has no anthocyanin on the midrib and veins. The petiole is medium in length and has no anthocyanin on the upper side.

'KIE011037' has single white flowers with no eye zone. The incision on the lower petal is medium in depth and the lower petal is medium in length. The upper petal is medium in width. The pedicel and spur have no anthocyanin and the spur has a strong curvature.

Origin & Breeding History: 'KIE011037' was the result of a controlled cross, made in Gensingen, Germany. The variety was selected in 2001 for its large white flowers and medium dark green foliage.

Tests & Trials: 'KIE011037' was tested in a greenhouse during the spring and summer of 2004, in St. Thomas, Ontario. Trials included 15 plants of the candidate and reference variety. Rooted cuttings were planted into 6cm cells in week 19 and transplanted into 15cm pots in week 25. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on August 5, 2004. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 RHS Colour Chart.
