Summary: 'KIE00031' has a narrower lighter green leaf with a shorter petiole than 'Fisupnic White'. The lower flower petal of 'KIE00031' has a shallower incision than 'Fisupnic White'. 'KIE00031' has a wider upper flower petal than 'Fisupnic White'.

Description:

'KIE00031' is a New Guinea Impatiens variety with medium height and width, and no anthocyanin colouration on the upper third of the shoot. The leaf is short to medium in length and width and is not variegated. The main colour of the upper side of the leaf blade is medium green. There is no anthocyanin on the upper side of the leaf. The lower side of the leaf is green in colour between the veins with no anthocyanin present. The petiole is short to medium in length and has no anthocyanin on the upper side.

'KIE00031' has single, white, flowers that are medium to large in diameter with no eye zone. The lower petal has a shallow incision and is medium to long in length. The upper petal is broad to very broad. The medium to long pedicel has no anthocyanin. The flower spur is moderately to strongly curved with no anthocyanin.

Origin & Breeding History: 'KIE00031' originated from a planned cross between a protected variety and a proprietary seedling variety in October 1998 in Gensingen, Germany. In May 1999, a seedling was selected for its large pure white flower colour and its vigorous habit.

Tests & Trials: 'KIE00031' was tested in a greenhouse during the spring and summer of 2005, in St. Thomas, Ontario. Trials included 15 plants of the candidate and reference varieties. Rooted cuttings were transplanted into 15 cm pots in week 17. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 RHS Colour Chart.
