Origin & Breeding History: 'Fisupnic Chersweet' originated from a hybridization made in Hillscheid, Germany in 2000. The female parent was the variety 'Alexis' and the male parent was a numbered seedling. The seed was sown in Galdar, Gran Canaria, Spain, where the first selection of the seedlings was conducted. Cuttings from the selected seedling were taken back to Hillscheid for further selection and trial cultivation. The selection criteria used were flower shape, time of flowering, branching habit, plant size and flower colour.
Tests & Trials: 'Fisupnic Chersweet' was tested at Westcan Greenhouses, Langley, British Columbia in spring/summer of 2003. The trials included 12 plants of the candidate and reference variety. The plants were grown from rooted cuttings transplanted into 9 cm pots on March 25, 2003. On May 27, 2003 the plants were repotted into 15 cm pots and spaced 12 inches apart. All colour determinations were made using the 2001 RHS colour chart and measured characteristics were based on ten measurements.
